NYSC Director-General goes tough on unwarranted travelling by corps members








Director-General of National Youth Service
Corps, Brig-Gen. Suleman Kazaure, has warned
corps members to avoid unnecessary journeys
during their service year.
Kazaure expressed fears over kidnapping of
corps members in Rivers State, stressing that
the menace was rampant in the state.
Kazaure gave the warning at the Permanent
Orientation Camp of the NYSC in Nonwa/Gbam
Tai, Tai Local Government Area of the state,
while addressing 2974 Batch B Stream II corps
members during a tour of the facilities at the
camp.
Kazaure warned corps members not to move
alone to lonely places and not to leave their
places of service indiscriminately, adding that
no corps member should do anything that will
expose him or her to the risk of being
kidnapped by bandits.

Kazaure said: “Pay close attention to the skill
acquisition programmes going on in the camp.
The programmes you go through in the camp
are arranged to guide you through the
challenges you will encounter during the service
year.
“After the orientation programme, you will be
posted to different communities. Respect the
culture of your host communities. Avoid
unnecessary journeys and night parties.” and
shun every form of sharp practices.” Avoid

“Be security conscious. Be sensitive in
everywhere you are going. I don’t want any of
you to be kidnapped. We hear what is
happening in the state. Kidnapping is rampant
in Rivers State. I don’t want any of you to run
the risk of being kidnapped.”
The NYSC boss promised to ensure improved
welfare for the youths and workers of the corp.
He also urged the corpers to take the skills
acquisition programmes seriously and respect
the culture of their host communities.
However, the state Coordinator of NYSC, Mr.
Omotayo Adewoye, in his address thanked the
DG for his benevolence.
